RIDER'S EDGE® New Rider Course
A proven blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the Rider's Edge New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson style. You’ll learn from devoted instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and Harley-Davidson to create a relaxed, supportive environment that fosters camaraderie and confidence. And after passing a written and riding skills evaluation, you'll receive an MSF RiderCourseSM Completion Card that could exempt you from the written and/or riding portion of the motorcycle license test, as well as possibly qualify you for discounts on insurance. But more than that, you'll begin a journey that lasts a lifetime
THE INSTRUCTORS Rider's Edge New Rider Course instructors are dedicated enthusiasts who have received certification from the MSF, as well as additional training from Harley-Davidson.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED A valid automobile drivers license or learner’s permit. A helmet manufactured to meet U.S., DOT standards, Protective eye wear, Motorcycling gloves, A long-sleeve shirt or jacket, Over-the-ankle boots, Jeans or motorcycling pants.
MOTORCYCLE You'll be riding the 492cc Buell® Blast®, a light easy to handle sportbike with a rider-friendly design that will have you feeling in control.
COSTS The New Rider Course costs $300 per person, which includes the use of a Buell Blast. If you are a current H.O.G. Member a $50 Reimbursement is available through the HOG Safe Rider Skills Program.
SCHEDULE The course is held over 5 days, from Thursday to Monday. All sessions are mandatory, so make sure the course fits into your schedule. Contact Program Manager Kathy Wolf 563-242-1901 for scheduled dates. Times are as follows:

RIDER'S EDGE® Skilled Rider Course
The Skilled Rider Course is a six to seven hour course held entirely on the range in one day. The Course uses the proven curriculum of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Experienced RiderCourse Suite, with some enhancements developed by Harley-Davidson enthusiasts. Participants use their own motorcycle, to enhance the following skills: control at low speeds, risk management, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment, stopping quickly in a curve, swerving and stopping quickly, multiple curve maneuvers and surmounting objects. Upon completion of the course, students will earn a Skilled Rider Course pin and patch set, as well as a completion card from MSF that may assist you in getting possible discounts on insurance.

MOTORCYCLE Your own street-ready motorcycle with proof of valid motorcycle insurance and current registration.

RIDER'S EDGE® Group Riding Course
Riding in a group requires a special skill set of its own. To help you improve your group riding ability, the Rider’s Edge / MSF Guide to Group Riding course offers a special video-based group-riding curriculum. It is available for use by individuals, or in groups.
